Protecting Your Most Important Asset-Your Trees and Blueberry bushes
*Eliminate painting tree trunks
*Spray herbicides without damaging or killing your trees
*Eliminate mouse/rabbit damage to Trunks
*Sleep well knowing your trees are protected day and night
Wisconsin Orchard Supply was founded by me, Jaime Steffen. I have over 30 years of orchard experience as a cherry
and apple grower as well as 20 years of experience in plastic manufacturing. One thing I have learned in that time is that a fruit tree's trunk is the most important part of the tree. It carries the tree's lifeblood. If the trunk has experienced damage like my trees have from herbicide
spray contact, mouse chewing, cracking from sun exposure, or machinery damage, the tree will never reach its full potential, and in many cases will slowly wither and die. That translates into lost money for growers. In the past I have used the spiral guards but they only protect newly planted trees for a couple of years until the tree trunk grows and the spirals separate, exposing big sections of the trunk to damage. After a tree is 3-4 years old the spiral guards need to be removed and from that point there are no really good options to protect a trunk. I have
been looking for something that will protect my tree trunks 100% from day one in the ground to year 30 and beyond, but there is nothing out there that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. So I decided to try and develop my own economical solution. My work has led me to introduce what I
call the Dura-Guard tree trunk guard. This material is tuff stuff and has proven itself in my own orchards. Every one of my 2000 trees now has a Dura-Guard protector. And guess what? Not one case of mouse or rabbit chewing on trunks, no trunk splitting from herbicide contact or sun exposure since I began using these guards. I believe you will be thrilled, like I am as a grower, by how it solves ALL of your tree trunk protection needs for many years and without costing an arm and a leg. Please visit the tab called "About Dura-Guard tree trunk protector" to see my videos and more trunk guard information.
We currently produce the Dura-Guard tree trunk guards at our facilities in Fort Atkinson. We are also the Wisconsin dealer for the Tallman ladder company. I have used 3 different companies' tripod ladders in my orchards and they are all decent ladders when they are new but Tallman is hands down the best ladder after a few years of use. They stay rock solid period, and rock solid in my orchards means fewer
falls and fewer injuries(and those cost money too!).
Since no two orchards are the same, each grower's trunk guard size and shape needs are a little different. Call me and we can discuss your needs and I can share more information with you from testing these on my own 2000 trees.
Your fellow grower,
Jaime Steffen
